How to Resize an Image for Instagram Using Glorify
Why is Image Resizing so Important?
If there is a social media platform that really emphasizes the visual aspect, then it’s Instagram.
And although it has come a long way since its early beginnings, one aspect of Instagram hasn’t changed: stunning visuals.
Why is that?
Further development in photo editing and graphic tools definitely helped shape Instagram into the platform it is today.
However, when it comes to sharing images on social media, it's essential to make sure they are the right size.
When you resize an image, you change its dimensions to make it larger or smaller.
If an image is too large, it will take up too much space on the screen and will be cut off.
And even more importantly, it will slow down page loading time immensely.
And trust us, you don’t want that. For example, did you know that your page has only three seconds to load before visitors leave it?
That makes you think twice about resizing images, right?
If it's too small, it will look blurry and won't be as effective because it won’t look professional.
Having too large or too small images definitely sends the wrong picture ( no pun intended) to your audience.
Another important thing to bear in mind is to keep the aspect ratio intact, so the image doesn't become distorted.
For example, if you resize a square image to be rectangular, the image will become stretched and distorted if the aspect ratio isn’t good.
So how can we apply all this info to Instagram? What are Instagram’s requirements when it comes to image resizing?
Instagram’s Image Size Requirements
Instagram is an excellent platform for sharing images, but it has a specific size that works best.
If an image is too large, it will be automatically resized to fit the screen automatically. This can lead to some quality loss, so it's always best to resize an image before sharing it on Instagram.
There are many image formats on Instagram:
Portrait images
Horizontal images
Instagram stories
Instagram reels, etc.
If you want to learn more about each of these formats and their dimensions, jump to our article about Instagram Image Size in 2022.
But today, we’d like to show you how to resize the most common image on Instagram: a square photo.
What is an Instagram Square Photo?
Instagram square photo is the most common type of image on Instagram.
The reason might be that square photos are thought to be the most visually appealing and easy to scroll through.
The good news is that many photo editing apps enable you to crop a photo into a square shape before uploading it. Moreover, Instagram has the same feature, too.
When it comes to dimension requirements, a square image should be anywhere between 320px by 320px and 1080px by 1080px.
However, the recommended size is 1080px by 1080px, or a 1:1 aspect ratio.
Now that we’ve covered the nitty-gritty technical details let’s get more practical and see how you can resize an image using Glorify.
But let’s first learn a bit more about Glorify because its features cover much more than photo editing.

But let’s see it in action!
How to Resize an Image for Instagram Using Glorify?
There are a few steps you need to take to do an image resizing.
Step 1 – Explore the Template Library
When you sign in, you will get access to Glorify’s Template Library.
As you can see, there are templates for every occasion:
Hero images,
Mockup scenes,
Instagram square posts,
Infographics,
And much more.
For the sake of this blog, let’s choose the Instagram square post.
When you click on the Instagram square post category, you will get even more filtering options in the central panel: themes and niche.
Furthermore, in the left-side panel, you will see a Bundles option.
If you tick the Bundles box, you will get the templates already in bundles.
What does it mean for you? It means you already get templates ready to be used across various platforms. Talking about hassle-free, right?
Step 2 – Choose the Template
But getting back to resizing an image for Instagram, well, it is already done.
Just by clicking on the template you like within the Instagram square category, you get an image that is 1080px by 1080 px.
Thus, you will get a high-quality visual that is ready in terms of size and dimension.
How simple was that!
Of course, what is left to do is tweak and edit your visual to make it “yours” and align it with your brand and your audience.
The good news is that with Glorify you can do additional tweaks all in one place.
Although it isn’t the main focus of our blog, it would be a pity to miss this opportunity and not show you Glorify’s new release.
Glorify’s New Release
Glorify launched its 3.0 version only a few days ago, and the difference is striking.

For example, here you will find:
Text editing tools
Shapes, lines and arrows
Pencil and pen tool
Image Library, etc.
The right-side panel provides functions such are:
Colors
Effects
Shadows and reflections
BG remover
Borders, etc.
We won’t go into more details now, but this little sneak preview should be a good enough indicator of what Glorify can do for you.
Since we’ve slightly strayed away from the main topic of how to resize an image for Instagram, let’s do a quick recap.
Final Thoughts
Visuals in any online business are a must. It is the visuals that first grab our attention and make us pause our scrolling for a moment.
So, what does this mean for businesses and brands? If you're not utilizing visuals, you're missing out on a huge opportunity to connect with your audience.
Visuals are powerful because they can tell a story and evoke emotion. You can also use them to highlight key information and make complex concepts more understandable.
However, even the most impressive visuals don’t stand a chance unless they are of the proper size and dimension. Without these two parameters, you may as well post nothing.
Glorify is the tool you need to help you not only with smart resizing, but also with all the additional photo edits.
